Shiatsu Iokaï
- Shiatsu
Shiatsu is a traditional
Japanese healing art. As with acupuncture, Shiatsu works with
energy points and meridians, lines along which one finds linked
energy points. Unlike acupuncture, Shiatsu uses the fingers,
rather than needles, to press the energy points. Our fingers
feel where stimulation or diffusion are needed and at the same
time push energy to stimulate or diffuse energy. Iokai Shiatsu
is taught in Europe by Master Sasaki, a student of the famous
Matsunaga. This school of Shiatsu is recognised for its use of
Chinese energy meridians and the Chinese philosophies of Yin-Yang
and Five Elements.
-
- Family Shiatsu
Family Shiatsu is easy
to learn. The student moves steadily forward. He is invited to
reproduce what he has learned at home among his relatives, sharing
with them the pleasure of learning and the joy of releasing tension.
It gives comfort, eases pain, stimulates, and calms. The student
discovers his need for a balanced life, and comes to know himself
and others. To feel happy in our body makes our relationship
to others easier. Health becomes then not just a right, but a
duty we owe to ourselves and to other selves.
-
- Technique
Iokai Shiatsu teaches
the art of Master Matsunaga. The student turns his attention
to feeling energy -- Ki in Japanese and Chi in Chinese. He learns
to press, massage, stretch, etc. He is taught by the tip of his
fingers. It is manual learning. Theory comes after. It is body
knowledge. When pushing the energy points, the student feels
and responds at the same time. He does not intervene directly
in the process of release but allows the body to heal itself.

- Workshops
The workshops are open
to everyone. The teaching is done in small groups and it moves
steadily forward. The teacher, Corinne Babled has a long history
of teaching, and has been studying oriental arts for more than
25 years. She believes that the pleasure of studying and the
will to deepen one's understanding of the body's power to heal
are the characteristics needed for progress in the art of Shiatsu.
The greatest benefits are attained by steadiness.
Shiatsu benefits
In addition to Shiatsu, she teaches a complementary art:
Do-in, a Japanese Yoga, meant to help us feel through our body
the energy that lies within. The lesson is thus well balanced
between relaxation and stimulation. At the end of the workshop,
the student feels he has better:
u Flexibility
u Relaxation
u Muscular tone
u Capacity to feel and to express joy
u Ability to open to others
The teacher
Ms
Corinne BABLED, a licensed Iokaï Shiatsu practitioner and
student of Master Sasaki,
has many years of experience teaching oriental arts to both adults
and children. She is a teacher of the Ki School and has traveled
to Japan to study with distinguished masters there. Her experience
ranges from the martial arts to the healing arts. Students do
not need to have any experience prior to enrolling. Enthusiasm
and steadiness are the only required conditions.
